Starting with a mouthwatering BBQ provided by Aspen Leaf, attendees at the 17th Annual Wellness Fair got underway. Organized by Swan Hills Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), the fair pulls together local and area service providers from healthcare organizations to wellness oriented businesses.
Throughout the day, several demonstrations were provided. Never used Bear Spray before? Bear Smart was there show the proper use and safety tips. Sisters, Gwen Senner and Bev Arseneault provided samples and a demonstration on how to prepare traditional bannock.
The massage tables were full all day as the talented fingers of local massage therapists melted away tension.
Several classes from Swan Hills School made the trek over to the Keyano Centre during class time to check out the many displays. With bag in hand, provided by FCSS, students and attendees collected business cards, pamplets, catalogues and samples from the exhibitors and several took home prizes from the many exhibitor draws. The Chamber of Commerce held a jelly bean count contest as entries piled in, some guessing under 500 jelly beans to over 3000.
Exhibitors provided colourful and interactive displays that attracted residents and provided more information on the many wellness services provided within the community or regionally.
