The Swan Hills community gathered on Thursday to pay their heartfelt tributes to the courageous Canadian soldiers who have served our nation both in the past and those who continue to do so today. The occasion was a solemn Remembrance Day ceremony hosted at Swan Hills School. This year, the ceremony was held a fair bit earlier than November 11 due to the school’s closure during the week leading up to Remembrance Day, aligning with the newly instituted November break.
Swan Hills School’s Remembrance Day ceremony attracted a sizable turnout. The proceedings commenced with a procession featuring student wreath bearers, local veteran Trevor Read, and dignitaries from various organizations, including the RCMP, Fort Assiniboine Royal Canadian Legion, Swan Hills Town Council, Pembina Hills School Board, and Swan Hills School Administration. The ceremony was a well-orchestrated event featuring video presentations, student musical performances, and thoughtful addresses from Town Councillor Dean LaBerge and School Trustee Melissa Hanna.
The atmosphere was marked by solemnity and deep respect, emphasizing the significance of honouring both our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. This Remembrance Day gathering in Swan Hills served as a poignant reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to our servicemen and women
