Swancicle Days Highlights

By Carol Webster

The 8th Annual Swancicle Days began last Friday with the ever popular Talent Show. It was standing room only as the crowd of family, friends and neigbours came out to cheer on the selection of talent who showcased singing, comedy acts and dancing. Saturday started with an amazing pancake and more breakfast hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. The line-up at Lindsay & Heidi Kilpatrick’s Sparkle Tattoo station was long as everyone wanted a special tattoo from the ladies. After breakfast, the Keyano Centre was transformed into a fantastic playroom with bouncy houses sponsored by the Swancicle Committee; Crafts and Games with the Municipal Library, Photo Booth thanks to The Gym and the tasty Taco in a bag by Grizzly Cubs. The Family Movie and Family Dance co-hosted by the committee and Grizzly Cubs. Saturday rounded out with a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by the Town of Swan Hills. Sunday was another fun filled day starting with Ice Fishing at Edith Lake hosted by Fish & Wildlife, hot dogs and refreshments supplied by Super A. Back in town, sledding at the Town hill had families enjoying the beautiful winter weather. After a hill climbing workout, a stop at the Razor Energy BBQ tent for a free burger and juice, then back for more sledding fun. The Swan Hills Fire Department ended the weekend events with a tail wagging, paw stomping, howlin’ good time at the Pet Show where local pet owners showed off the talents of their furry friends. It was no surprise that the weekend was enjoyed by everyone who came out; the Swancicle Committee once again pulled together an amazing weekend thanks to the support of great volunteers, non-profit groups and local businesses.
